Having A Successful Interview

An interview can be a make it or break it moment for most people. This is your one shot to make a great impression to land that job you’ve been eyeing in your career. However, there are certain things, or hacks as they’re now referred to, that you can do to give you a competitive edge above the rest of the applicants.

Dallas Accounting Jobs already gives you an advantage by pairing you with the best available jobs in Dallas, but you’re going to need more than just great opportunities to land your job. Here are our hacks to have a successful interview.

Come Prepared
Being prepared for opportunities will always be the deciding factor for any kind of success. In this case, having all of your resumes, documents, certifications, and business cards ready will pay dividends as well.

The rule of thumb is to always be prepared to over deliver. If you have an interview with an elite company, show them you’re serious by showcasing a PowerPoint presentation of how you’d impact the company.

Keep Your Eyes Peeled
Far too often do interviewees come unprepared for their interview, simply by not having their eyes open. It’s not that they aren’t qualified or looking for the right people, they just aren’t looking in the right places.

For instance, before going to an interview, do some research beforehand about the company. Learn their culture and their values. In addition, find company pictures and see how everyone dresses. This can provide invaluable information on how you should dress when you’re going into the interview.

Be Courteous
Nothing can bomb your interview (and those around you) worse than not having manners. It’s one thing to be confident; it’s a whole other thing to be cocky, selfish and degrading to others.

When you’re at the company to do your interview, be polite to everyone. From the CEO to the receptionist, everyone’s role is integral to the success of the company and are all owned a certain amount of respect. Being polite and having the right etiquette can make you stand out.

In addition to being polite, show up early for your interview as a sign that you take this opportunity seriously and value other people’s time. It can also help you get acclimated to the office environment and make you seem like you’re already working there.

Strut Your Stuff
When done correctly, showing confidence in an interview allows the interviewer to immediately assess if you are the ideal candidate for the position.

Show your confidence by sharing examples of your previous work. Have a copy of past acknowledgements, reports, or certifications that demonstrate that you not only walk the walk, you talk the talk as well.

Having confidence also lets you be one step ahead of the interviewer. Understand that each question being asked serves its purpose. Whether it’s deciding how your behavior is or testing your knowledge base, it’s important to be sure of yourself.

Think Ahead
Along the same lines as above, thinking ahead can prove to be a successful hack that’ll increase your chances of being hired.

Think what kinds of questions you can ask the interviewer that would make you a more appealing candidate. Questions such as “what’s a day in the life” or “what do you like most about working here” will separate you from the rest of the people going after the same job.

After you’ve finished your interview, find out a little more about the hiring process and see how they’ll notify you if you get the job. This will, in turn, show you're serious about landing the job.

And that’s it! With these hacks on having a successful interview, there should be no reason you won’t land the job you want!
